The Weevils secure the top spot in the league with a hard fought win over the Rangers 6-4. The game started out with the refreshed Sattora-san potting 2 very nice goals, 1 shorthanded, to give us a very nice early lead. There was also a first period goal by Pinna who shelved one over the goalies shoulder starting with a sweet pass from Zarby to give us a 3-0 lead. The fourth goal was a great play by Bmoore who made the whole thing happen with tons of hustle and tons of knuckle children.

To our dismay, we somehow lost the entire lead in the 2nd and beginning of the 3rd by giving up on the puck. Diddle missed the entire barn from about 10 feet out on a rebound that the goalie was wrapped up in himself on the far side. Diddle also missed another scoring chance on a break away by tweaking up the shot meter and letting go a Happy Gilmore just as the toe pick on his figure skates caught a grove on the beach section of the ice sending him into a flat spin and into the boards head first.

Although the Rangers were able to tie the game, they were not successful in getting the puck out of there zone past Myze or Ved who relentlessly took turns putting slap shots into the defenseman’s tender areas. Mahalik had a stand out game as he beat every break away chance back to the puck sliding toward Mich. The only goals the Rangers had were 4 guys in the crease scrambling for the puck as we stood around and watched.

Even though Bmoore had several words with the chin strap nazi, he still managed to get the final goal by flipping the puck from our zone into an empty net. Todd Huevos also showed up just in case the 38th rostered member of our team failed to show. So he suited up and played defense like a champ. Even though he was not sure where he was the entire game and he was checking his pager every shift he managed to thwart several Ranger opportunities.

The pizza party after the game was held at Old Chicago Pizza and hit the spot as everything except for the beer was on the house. The pies were great up until Bmoore started rubbing his corn hole and offering it up for his team members to get a whiff. Please remember to sit as far away from him as possible anytime you are eating and don’t feel like vomiting.
