With 5 hours to game time and only 6 skaters signed up on the new, super efficient, grand pooba, triple threat, absolutely fantastic and overly perfect website, captain Diddle scurries to make sure that we can fill the bench for the game. He must have done a great job as we entered the locker room to find 13 skaters and 3 goalies!

It was a great night only due to the fact that the Cow showed up after his tour of duty to seal the win 6-3 against a formidable opponent, Ziggys. As Diddle sets up the lines, Weevils fight for a seat on the bench leaving 2 bugs standing for the whole game. With 8 lines of offense and 2 lines of defense the Weevs feel pretty comfortable that they are only going to get 3 minutes of skating time and should have plenty of gas to reach the 3rd period destination.

The first period started so slow that we were beginning to think that the Weevils were holding out for the long run and hoping to own the 2nd and 3rd period. Pounding the Ziggys goalie with shots and passing around their zone, until 1 lucky breakout by Zigs which ends in a goal putting us down 1-0. Again we peppered Ziggys to the breaking point where they became very chippy and start to annoy the entire team. This causes another turnover and another goal for Ziggys.

The second period was filled, FULL, with penalties as the chin strap nazi doles out the worst infractions ever. And of course he has to make a chin strap appearance as he tracks down Gensch and plays with his chin strap fore skin. When the ref figures out that Gensch has a legal chin strap, he has to say something to not look like a total douche and tells Rich to tape up his extra long girth. Poor little Char gets called for a penalty as well for eating the liver of a 6′4″ guy behind our goal and not leaving leftovers for the next morning. Of course we can’t leave out the Myze as he throws a weak ass hook at center ice and gets sent to the box to finish his mural. Oh yeah, and let us talk about the penalty given to Pinna, the best sportsman in the league. He has the puck and moves through Ziggys zone, getting railed by an ogre at the blue line. But he shakes it off and keeps going only to be railed by the same ogre behind the net. We found out that 2 blatent shots to the dome is where Pinna’s breaking point is located as he turned and crosschecked the guy in the teeth. This of course gets him 2 minutes, but that was not enough as he had some very choice words for the chin strap nazi who gratefully gave him 2 more for unsportsmanlike behavior. There were shouts from the bench to Pinna telling him about his skates being untied, making sure he tied them or there would probably be another penalty. Of course the nazi heard this and gave the taunter a stare that said, “I will put you in the gas chamber as well if you keep it up.”

Todd ‘tiny’ Huevos also showed up to this game to help out the bugs and give some reffing advise to the nazi. Who gave him a penalty for just asking what time it was. Finally the third period came along and a the Weevils were mad, but channeled that anger into hard play and scoring opportunities. Bmoore danced around their zone with a cougar on his back, sending a phenomenal pass to Brown ‘can’t play after 10′ Eye who dropped the first one in backhand to get us rolling. The next goal was by none other than the great Char who fought the puck past several defenders on the boards and took it all the way in by herself to shelf the second goal of the evening. Next was a flury from Uni as he was counted for a hat trick one after the other, even taking the face off from center ice and caressing it over the Pigs goalie to take the lead. Goals just kept going in as Ziggys lost their mojo and the goalie was finally tired out from 2 straight, late night games. Finally we get a call and go on a powerplay only to have the nazi kill the play by delaying the drop of the puck due to skates being untied and straps not being in the proper upright position.

All in all the game was a flop and hopefully we don’t play this way against any of the other teams as it would surely end in a loss. Of course we can’t finish this story without mentioning our better half, Mich, who gained her footing half way through the first period shutting out the opposing team until late in the third after we had all given in to the fact that Uni was just going to finish the job by himself.

And who can forget Diddle for making our website free from the evil domain of the forum which took way too much time away from our work day reading BS posts from Skatch about everything from Jerseys to missing scheduled games.
