But as we stepped on the ice, our hearts where tugged as we saw a boys husky, greek, boy from the shire staring back at us from the Ringers line-up. Could it be? Well it sealed the deal when he started circling our goal and put the first one down to leave the Weevils wondering why he was playing for them. But alas, Sattora leans in close, picks his pocket and finds out that he is just one of Skatch’s relatives from the mainland.

Well we all know what happens next as Diddle leads the team in every aspect starting off the season by putting away a great rebound pass from Char. Of course Zarby steals his thunder by putting one down all by himself, shorthanded. Geez! As the game progresses, the Weevils fumble even more as Char takes not 1 but 2 penalties to lead the league in the second period alone. I think I heard Chauder ask the ref if he could talk to her and calm her down so they don’t get hurt.

The second and third periods where back and forth as the Weevils stayed one step ahead of the Ringers. Myze flattens Weiss in an attempt to skate through the mountain instead of around it. Well, he took down the mountain and we had a free 10 minute time out waiting for Weiss to remember which day it was. But they fought down to the end where a mad rush to get the tying goal in the last 10 seconds of the game was shut down by Mich. And Chauder lead Myze in a nice Waltz over to the boards where they proceeded to lay down and consummate the marriage. The score was final at 5-4 Weevils win there home opener!

Although the Mad Cow wasn’t seen tonight, he was with us in spirit as we all sang Kumbaya and spouted out 40 year old virgin quotes in his honor. And an a hardy welcome to our new member, Charlotte.
