MIRACLE ON MAIN STREET

Season’s Greetings from the Icehouse Igloo. Last night we capped the Weevil elite C team playoff tourney. With everyone still stuffed to the gills from Turkey Day, the outlook was simply, ‘where’s the beer?’
But lo and behold, it is that magical time of year. Anticipation of Doll-house girls dancing under your tree. When mistletoe is not some sort of discharge from Timmy. When little men in shiny green pants are not so scary (sorry Pat). It’s time for da hockeys, let get to the action!
We opened the scoring in the first by spotting them 3 goals to make this an even game. Our magical evening commensed by Pele-Willie heading the rock past Lindy, although I thought he bicycle-kicked it in, the Ref called it a goal. The Enforcers followed that up by stuffing our stockings with two more sloppy-play goals.
What’s that? What to my wandering eye should appear but a BMoore and a Diddle playin a fiddle and makin it hot – they pop 2 biscuits in the oven to bring us a little closer to the cookie plate and milk.
Queue the Rocky music because the 2 period we startin scratchin and clawing. A goal by Willie on the back-side grabs a rebound and stuffs it in the bag. A streaking Heff gets on his hobby horse, brings it up the side and rips a knuckler into the top corner. Game is 4-4 going into the 3rd. The D is holding tight with only Joe, Timmy, and Flynn. You can see the fellas getting tired. Time-out to shuffle lines to re-forge the bonds of Master-Blaster, Pat joins the D-crew and we shuffle some lines around. And we go down 4-5 with about 10 mins left. Suddenly Silver Fox pulls a rabbit out of the hole and slides a pot-pie past the keeper to tie it up. Weevils never say die (only need a nap cause I’m so f’in tired).
About 3 minutes left and Mr. BMoore-than-you-can-be grabs the stick’um and the puck. I grab the Reverend and quickly pronounce them husband and wife and they take a romantic journey through time and space. They travel every square inch of the pond (Teno Boitano would be giddy with excitement). Nothing can separate BMoore from the puck, but with all good things they must end, a little dip, a little doodle, some flashy passing and BMoore to Diddle to bury the game-winner! It’s a Miracle! Weevils win! Weevils Win!
Some odd choices for beer but they were consumed to the wee hours. A fun-filled, action packed season. We learned a lot and know we have much to do. The BOD handed out the Golden Weevil Award to me but I don’t deserve it, I think the team would love to have Peter Heffring get it. His financial backing and improved play have been stellar. Easily the most improved player. Had a 5 game scoring streak going, been helping to coach his son’s hockey team. His family has come out a few times to support us. This Canadian is well deserving of the award. (this is only for a ride in the viper)
And as he drove out of sight, he said to all – Merry Christmas and F U Phil!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD WORK BOYS!!! WAY TO MAKE WEEVIL NATION PROUD!!!
Now buy a shirt!!
So it’s ok for 2 B players to come down to help YOU win, but when another team does it it’s a problem?? I sense a double standard here.
i sense a sore loser…
You started it Zarby! We just have to keep up.
I agree with you, John. Peter has had a hell of a season and would get my vote for the Golden Weevil.
I agree with James and Diddle. I looked at the stats prior to the game, and Peter was way ahead in goal scoring, and has played great at the end of this season. My vote is for Peter as Golden Weevil!
Way to go boys!
Just so you fellas know, we don’t only take into account the stats. The main thing is giving back to the team, hanging out, making all the games, writing stories, playing your position, and basically all around spirit. I think John earned it this season for his hard work and stepping up to captain for next season. For the future we will be voting for the award.
Good writeup John!
Looking forward to carrying our winning streak into next season…and getting that scoring touch back!!!
Yes! Very good write up. I was impressed and tickled that we have some updates to read for the C team. Good job fellas, way to finish the season.
